Palestinian teenager killed by Israeli army in West Bank: sources

RAMALLAH, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — The Israeli army killed a Palestinian teenager in the West Bank city of Tulkarm on Tuesday, Palestinian medical sources said.
Mohammed Kanaan, 17, died of head wounds after being shot by Israeli soldiers while he was with his father in a neighborhood in Tulkarm refugee camp, north of the West Bank, the sources said.
Kanaan’s father was shot in the waist and transferred to Thabet Thabet Hospital in the city, the sources added.
Palestinian security sources reported that Israeli forces continue to storm Tulkarm refugee camp, tightening the siege on it and deploying snipers on tall buildings near the camp.
Since Wednesday, Israel has conducted a large-scale raid across the northern West Bank, stating that the operation aims to prevent future attacks against Israel.
The ongoing Israeli military operations across the West Bank have killed 29 Palestinians and wounded 121 others, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Monday.
According to the ministry, more than 660 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli attacks across the West Bank since the onset of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in October 2023.
During the past 24 hours, the Israeli army killed 33 Palestinians and wounded 67 others in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total death toll to 40,819 and injuries to 94,291 since the outbreak of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Tuesday. ■
